Responsibilities:
  • Lead Sealing Solution Design: Independently problem solve and manage customer projects by designing innovative and optimized sealing solutions for critical fluid power and pressure control systems within Oil & Gas applications and heavy industry markets. This includes creating detailed engineering proposal drawings via AutoCAD and utilizing specialized in-house calculation and software tools.
  • Expert Technical Consultation: Working closely on a team with Outside sales and Account Management, serve as the primary technical authority for seal design, material selection, part number and BOM creation, internally collaborating with production and R&D departments, and most importantly, on an engineer-to-engineer basis with our customers. Provide high-level, professional communication via customer visits, e-mails, phone calls, and web meetings for complex problem solving, advanced technical and pre-sale design review support, and comprehensive project management specific to sealing solutions in high-pressure, high-temperature fluid applications common to the Oil & Gas and heavy industry markets.
  • Advanced Material and Design Verification: Possess and utilize an in-depth understanding of material properties for elastomers and thermoplastics, specifically as they pertain to hydraulic seals in challenging applications. Independently verify proper material selection to meet application requirements (speed, temperature, application, media, and pressure). Apply classical engineering analysis and methods for design verification, encompassing principles of hydraulics, fluids, pressure, contact force, stress/strain, thermal effects, friction, gland fill, torque, etc.
  • Complex Problem Solving & Failure Analysis: Proactively identify and solve intricate technical problems related to sealing performance in fluid power systems. Based on customer requests, independently conduct comprehensive seal failure analysis, precisely determining the root cause of failure and providing detailed, actionable recommendations to correct the problem.
  • Strategic Customer Engagement & Sales Support: Confer directly with key customers (both MRO & OEM) and other engineers to meticulously assess their unique sealing needs and independently determine optimal sealing solutions. Collaborate strategically with sales teams to understand customer requirements, promote the sale of company products, value proposition, and provide in-depth technical sales support. Prepare and deliver impactful technical presentations to customers and prospective customers via virtual meeting platforms or lunch and learn training sessions.
  • Technical Proposal Development: Independently develop, present, and respond to detailed technical proposals for specific customer requirements, often involving bespoke sealing solutions for unique challenges in Oil & Gas exploration, production, and processing.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in applications engineering, with a significant and demonstrable portion focused on the Oil & Gas industry and hydraulic/fluid power systems
  • Proven expertise and deep knowledge in the design, application, and material selection of hydraulic seals and sealing components for demanding environments
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, and contribute immediately with minimal training
  • A strong track record of exceptional and successful problem-solving skills
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD for 2D drafting for proposal creation
  • Strong command of classical engineering design practices and principles as applied to fluid power and mechanical systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of high-level technical and professional interactions with customers and internal stakeholders

Due to the high volume of applications we typically receive, we regret that we are not able to personally respond to all applications. However, if you are invited to take the next step in the process, you will typically be contacted within one week of submitting your application.
