Job Description

A well-established auto finance company is looking for a Director of Talent Acquisition to be responsible for the organization’s recruitment function. The ideal candidate is a talent management expert with a thorough understanding of sourcing methods & techniques. Reporting to the HR Managing Director, the new leader will develop long-term recruiting strategies to build a strong employer brand awareness and create a robust talent pipeline while upholding the organization’s goals & values.


Salary: $140,000-$150,000 + bonus

Location: Houston, TX

  • Lead and oversee all full cycle recruiting initiatives, including developing and managing recruitment strategies.
  • Partner with hiring managers to foster effective relationships with the Executive Leadership Team, and Directors, to ensure strategic and effective talent acquisition, serving as a trusted resource. 
  • Serve as subject matter expert in recruitment matters, including application of relevant policies, laws, and regulations, as well as addressing and resolving recruitment-related questions and problems.
  • Act as main point of contact in matters related to Applicant Tracking System (ATS). 
  • Facilitate training on and understanding of ATS for users. Ensure all screening activities are adequately documented, from the posting to closing of each position. 
  • Maintain accuracy of data in ATS through routine review and audits.
  • Maintain job description bank and revise job descriptions and postings to ensure accuracy and marketability.
  • Work with hiring managers and recruitment team to screen and interview well-qualified candidates.
  • Develop and maintain bank of general pre-screening, interview, and reference check questions.
  • Participate in interviews and conduct reference checks as needed. Oversee completion of all post-hire tasks.
  • Build employer brand awareness with attention and care and a focus on reaching historically excluded groups.
  • Research, compile, and analyze hiring statistics and other recruiting Key Performance Indicators to optimize successful recruiting efforts. Make recommendations to executive leadership based on recruiting data metrics to streamline and improve recruitment processes.
  • Identify and source appropriate talent for open jobs using traditional as well as innovative techniques. Use social media, job boards, Internet sourcing, and other technical means to source candidates for open jobs.
  • Develop and execute college recruiting strategy, such as identifying which university programs are the most relevant, building relationships, working with managers to identify intern and entry level opportunities, attend career fairs, follow up with candidates, etc.
  • Suggest process improvement initiatives to ensure stakeholder satisfaction and process efficiency.
  • Monitor vacancies, pipelines, time to fill, diversity, and quality of hires.
  • Maintain reporting and other information required to support recruiting metrics.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Use data and analytics to identify strengths and weaknesses in personnel management strategies to improve employee retention.
  • Proactively manage organizational development strategies such as succession planning, workforce development, key employee retention, organization design, and change management.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental goals, objectives, and systems in support of the company's strategic goals.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Organization Development, or related field
  • PHR Certification, SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in Human Resources and/or Talent Management in a medium to high volume environment, preferably in the consumer finance industry
  • Advanced knowledge in federal and state labor laws including EEO, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, etc. 
  • Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), HRIS systems, and general HR policies, and procedures
  • Experience delivering on Talent Management strategies connected to business priorities to enable and reinforce diverse high potential leadership talent sourcing, development, and retention
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
