Job Description

A premier energy marketing and infrastructure firm is looking for a Director of Market Fundamentals and Data Analytics to create and update supply & demand models and presentations for crude, gas, and NGLs. The ideal candidate is an SQL expert with an in-depth understanding of market and price drivers on both regional & macro levels. Communicating effectively, the new leader will meet/exceed company objectives through effective presentation while ensuring a world-class customer experience.

Salary + Additional Benefits:

Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Aid in generating long-term supply and demand models for crude, gas, and NGLs.
  • Track industry developments, including regulations, infrastructure projects, capital plans, etc.
  • Create presentations to communicate market view to both internal and external parties.
  • Write commentary on the market for daily and weekly reports.
  • Participate in communicating market view to clients verbally through conference calls and in-person meetings.
  • Aid in design and creation of front-end interfaces for end users’ data consumption.
  • Maintain accurate pricing and market data within internal SQL database.
  • Maintain/create automated workflows that feed models and risk systems.
  • Create custom views and tables as needed for end-user reporting.
  • Mentor/coach junior employees.    

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the energy industry with at least 5 years in a market analyst type role
  • Bachelor’s degree required in business, economics, engineering, or math
  • Master’s degree preferred or equivalent additional work experience
  • Strong understanding of fundamental market drivers for crude, natural gas, and NGLs
  • Experience building models from the ground up with proven results
  • Understanding of financial and physical energy pricing
  • Experience with ETRM systems (e.g., Molecule/Paragon/Allegro) and understanding of associated calculation processes
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and experience using SQL Server Management Studio
  • Ability to write/debug python at an intermediate level
  • Experience using Power Automate
  • Experience with Spotfire or other BI software
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
