Controls Engineer

Job Description
Salary + Additional Benefits:
- $130,000-$160,000 + 10% bonus

Location:Â Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
- Perform quality assurance on existing chemical manufacturing processes for the site.
- Maintain site distributed control system (DCS) and safety systems, troubleshoot issues to mitigate risk for the organization, monitor and address DCS alarms, and propose solutions to issues and fixes as needed.
- Identify areas at the site in need of process control optimization.
- Evaluate the efficiency of manufacturing technologies, instruments, equipment, and tools and propose and implement improvements.
- Drive process control innovation in collaboration with leadership and keep abreast of any developments and innovation related to process control engineering.
- Recommend suitable software solutions and automate manufacturing processes to improve plant performance and production.
- Keep process control operations within budget, without compromising the quality, reliability, or efficiency.
- Act as a resource on instrumentation and controls opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations, document processes and prepare progress reports.
- Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).
- Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care® requirements, demonstrate a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices in all aspects of your position within the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technical (ABET) institution required, PhD desired.
- Ten or more years of experience in controls engineering within the chemical industry.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills to find a solution for or deal proactively with work related problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to adapt methods in response to new information, changing conditions, and unexpected obstacles.
- Experience processing hazardous chemicals in a process management safety (PSM) regulated facility preferred.
- Must have three or more years of DCS programming experience, proficiency in Honeywell Experion preferred.
