Job Description
A leading manufacturing company is seeking a Controller to oversee financial operations and ensure accurate reporting across the organization. The ideal candidate is a strategic and detail-oriented finance leader with strong experience in cost accounting and manufacturing environments. Working collaboratively, the new hire will ensure financial accuracy by overseeing accounting processes while providing insights to improve operational efficiency and profitability.

Location: Katy, TX

Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions with direct reports within these job functions.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
- Manage corporate liquidity and cash flow forecasting.
- Coordinate with external auditors for annual reviews or tax filings.
- Maintain and refine the standard costing system for a diverse SKU catalog.
- Analyze variances between actual production costs and standards (labor, material, and overhead).
- Monitor inventory levels, oversee physical counts, and manage reserves for obsolescence in a fast-moving decor environment.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and Leadership Team to evaluate the ROI of new decorating equipment (e.g., screen printing, embroidery, or laser engraving machines).
- Develop and monitor the annual budget and departmental KPIs.
- Implement and maintain rigorous internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Evaluate and Influence ERP or accounting software system changes to improve data transparency and workflow automation.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA or CMA designation is a plus
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in promotional products, apparel, or high-volume custom decoration is a significant plus
- Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google sheets required (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, modeling) and experience with NetSuite is a plus
- A "boots-on-the-ground" mentality—willing to go onto the production floor to understand the workflow behind the numbers.Â
- Ability to be onsite 2 to 3 days per week is a must
