Job Description
The ideal candidate is a people leader and knowledgeable in and has a hands-on approach in all accounting and financial activities.
Salary:Â $120,000-$130,000
Location:Â NW Houston, TX 77064
Type of Position:Â Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounting and financial operations of the company and its subsidiaries including AP/AR, job cost accounting, payroll, and cash flow management.
- Develop and maintain the system of internal accounting controls and financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analysis
- Reconciling the company’s bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers.
- Daily management of bank accounts – deposits and checks.
- Manage income and expenditure accounts.
- Filing and remitting taxes and other financial obligations (monthly sales tax reporting).
- Analyze financial transactions and events in accordance with local GAAP.
- Continuously assesses internal controls for optimization and effectiveness.
- Drive the end-to-end financial reporting governance. Ensures the accounting team meets their statutory reporting compliance requirements, the respective accounting flows, and necessary documentation - including ensuring the accuracy of external disclosures.
- Supervise the payment process to vendors and subcontractors and confirm lien waivers are properly collected.
- Monitor daily cash balances to ensure requirements are met.
- Produce monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate quarterly accounting reviews, annual audits, tax returns, and sales tax audits.
- Create budgets with ownership and manage budgets to ensure fiscal health and responsibility.
- Oversee the monthly job cost report process for use in creating and updating contract schedules and updated work in progress reports for internal and external use.
- Review and monitor the preparation of the weekly payroll.
- Perform special assignments as directed by the Ownership and Advisory Board.
- Keep a check on the company’s finances based on financial status.
- File and remit taxes and other financial obligations (monthly sales tax reporting).
- Benefits Management – 401K, Insurance and Voluntary-(Assisting HR and understanding).
- Ability to supply information requests to Auditors for financials, 401K, insurance, and sales tax.
- Work with attorneys to file liens or demand letters.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or above in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years finance/accounting experience, including experience working in a privately held business
- 5 years of experience at the Controller level or equivalent required
- 2 years of experience leading a team of accounting professionals at various levels
- Construction or similar industry experience required
- Strong ERP experience: MS Dynamics and Business Central ERP preferred
- Advanced MS Excel
