Job Description

A leading manufacturing company in the oil & gas industry is seeking a CNC Programmer/Operator to produce high-precision components that meet strict quality and engineering specifications. The ideal candidate is a seasoned machinist with strong CAM programming experience and a collaborative, detail-oriented mindset. Working under minimal supervision, the new team member will drive machining excellence by programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes while partnering with engineers to support both prototyping and production demands.

Location: Houston, TX 77041
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Program and operate Doosan 4th-axis CNC lathes and mills using Fusion 360.
  • Design fixturing for secure and efficient machining of complex geometries.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling to maximize performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform full setup including tool touch-offs, probing, and first-run verification.
  • Collaborate with engineering to improve part manufacturability and reduce production costs.
  • Maintain CNC machines and perform light maintenance tasks (e.g., chip removal, fluid checks).
  • Conduct inspections and adjust machining operations to ensure quality and tolerances.
  • Support automation initiatives including robotic integration.
  • Participate in shop-wide tasks such as assembly, cleaning, and equipment upkeep.

Requirements:
  • Minimum 7 years CNC machining experience
  • Minimum 3 years CAM programming experience (preferably in Fusion 360)
  • Proficient in both lathe and mill setup, operation, and G-code interpretation
  • In-depth knowledge of tooling, materials, and GD&T
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • High attention to detail and ability to read blueprints, manuals, and technical instructions
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Experience with robotic manufacturing integration
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
  • Climate-controlled machine shop with Doosan CNC equipment
  • PPE and tools are provided by the company
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., stand/walk for extended periods, and use hand tools
  • Occasional exposure to warehouse noise, dust, and shop elements
