Job Description

A thriving company is looking for a CDL & Heavy-Duty Forklift Driver responsible for the safe operation of forklifts to load, unload, stack, and retrieve storage units and offices from trucks and trailers. The ideal candidate possesses experience in forklift operation and a solid understanding of safety guidelines. With a focus on safety, the new team member will enhance operational efficiency by executing tasks effectively and spearheading a strategy for continuous improvement in accordance with established operating procedures.
               
Salary: $18-24/hr
Location: Houston, TX 77013
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Safely load and unload storage units and offices of up to 9,000 lbs. from various trucks and trailers using a gas?powered forklift or container handler forklift.
  • Operate heavy truck along designated route, when needed.
  • Inspect and document returned units and offices, tagging them appropriately for repair (red tag) or readiness for use (green tag).
  • Assist Yard Workers in moving units and offices in and out of the yard for maintenance or deployment.
  • Maintain organized storage of units and offices in the yard and ensure a hazard?free environment.
  • Perform minor/light repairs on the forklifts as needed.
  • Fulfill other assigned duties as necessary.
  • Work in an outdoor environment with potential exposure to heat, dust, or noise.
  • Tasks may include periodic lifting, climbing, lifting items weighing 35?40 pounds, hours of seated work, and hours of standing work.

  • Continuous Improvement: Assist in driving a continuous improvement strategy within the business to result in ongoing incremental gains in quality and efficiency.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • 3?5 years of relevant experience in forklift operation (container handler, gas powered).
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
  • 6+ months of experience driving heavy vehicles.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Possession of appropriate forklift certification
  • Welding experience preferred.
