Job Description

A well-established company in the oil & gas industry is looking for a Bookkeeper to assist with the daily business and personal accounting activities. The ideal candidate possesses a knowledge of general bookkeeping and fundamental accounting principles, along with proficiency in accounting software. Reporting to the Controller, the new team member will contribute to achieving the company's financial objectives by ensuring accurate and effective implementation of accounting strategies while adhering to all relevant legal standards and requirements.

Location: Houston, TX 
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities: 
  • Manage all accounting transactions for multiple entities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, and journal entries.
  • Reconcile accounting transactions.
  • Prepare various balance sheets and profit/loss statements.
  • Prepare various tax reports and organize information for tax returns.
  • Interface with both operators and mineral owners regarding property interests and inquiries and handle division orders in a timely manner.
  • Manage information with accuracy and critical attention to detail.
  • Reconcile and pay property tax.

Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience with general bookkeeping, basic accounting, and familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, Quicken, Excel)
  • Experience working in a family office or with clients preferred
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas accounting (JIBs, revenue, division orders, etc.) is helpful
  • Personal traits include initiative, exceptional communication skills, ability to work independently or in a team, and the competence to meet deadlines
