Job Description

An industry-leading safety and compliance solutions provider is looking for an Accounting Manager to oversee all accounting functions within the organization. The ideal candidate is an accounting expert with extensive knowledge of accounting software, databases, and best practices.                        

Salary: $125,000-$135,000
Location: NW Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations and co-lead month-end close activities.
  • Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions.
  • Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships.
  • Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
  • Compile legal entity sales by state reports quarterly to monitor nexus requirements.
  • Handle requests for sales & use tax information, including applicable taxability and rate determinations.
  • Perform any local tax reporting and activities for the company.
  • Respond to state and local notices, assessments, and inquiries.
  • Work with income and property tax consultants for annual tax payments, payments, returns, and negotiations.
  • Coordinate with external financial and tax auditors.

Requirements:
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA license required
  • Public accounting experience required
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Proven working experience as an accounting manager or supervisor
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with accounting software and databases; MS Great Plains is a plus
  • Understanding and knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • Excellent computer skills on MS Office
