Location:Â Houston, TX - NW
Type of Position: Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Deliver financial reports and performance updates to senior leadership.
- Conduct detailed variance analysis and performance reviews across projects and departments.
- Manage cash flow forecasting, daily cash positioning, and liquidity oversight.
- Oversee company-wide budgeting cycles, including annual planning and forecasting.
- Monitor financial performance across all active projects, including budget tracking and profitability analysis.
- Review and analyze work-in-progress (WIP) schedules to support revenue recognition and forecasting.
- Collaborate with operational teams to build and manage project-level budgets.
- Track change orders and evaluate cost and margin impacts.
- Coordinate client billing cycles including progress billings, payment applications, and retention monitoring.
- Ensure contractual terms are met across all client engagements and projects.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards and internal controls in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage external audits and maintain strong relationships with auditors, banks, and financial partners.
- Oversee tax compliance and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Partner with operations and executive leadership to support strategic business initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, processes, and reporting workflows.
- Lead efforts to automate and streamline accounting operations for efficiency and scalability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA or CMA preferred
- 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance required
- 7 + years of commercial construction industry experience required; multi-entity experience a plus
- Proven track record managing job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and project profit forecasting
- Expertise in GAAP, construction accounting, and project-based financial management
- Extensive experience with construction ERP systems; advanced Excel
