Job Description

A premier integrated midstream infrastructure company is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee natural gas liquids accounting and lead operational use of the RightAngle ETRM system. The ideal candidate is a seasoned accounting professional with deep expertise in commodity accounting, GAAP compliance, and financial systems management. Working collaboratively, the new leader will guide a high-performing team by streamlining reconciliation, supporting deal structuring, and overseeing financial reporting while ensuring accuracy, operational efficiency, and compliance in a dynamic energy environment.

Location: Houston, TX
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and supervision of a staff of seven team members.
  • Serve as a liaison between Downstream Accounting and Financial Accounting, Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting.
  • Oversee reconciliation of book to physical product inventory for all liquids products.
  • Special projects and analysis to include impacts of change in accounting treatment or presentation and onboarding of new business.
  • Work with commercial representatives and accounting management to determine proper accounting treatment and deal structure in RightAngle for new or amended business.
  • Serve as approver for all new RightAngle transaction types and account code groups requested by both accounting and commercial representatives.
  • Key participant and tester for future RightAngle upgrades.
  • Assist with preparation and approval of complex journal entries.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly and quarterly flux analysis.
  • Participate as a key member for quarterly and annual MD&A presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance related field
  • GAAP knowledge, specifically revenue and inventory
  • 10+ years progressive experience in commodity accounting
  • 5+ years progressive supervisory experience with proven ability to lead others
  • Initiative and leadership in unstructured work environments, handling multiple job responsibilities, setting priorities, maintaining a high level of accomplishment, and implementing improvements to processes
  • Experience using an ETRM for daily accounting functions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to listen carefully and use clear and concise oral and written skills to convey facts and present positions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Can grasp complex business problems and formulate solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external customers
  • Thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, high-performance culture with the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Progressive experience in liquids accounting preferred
  • Accounting degree preferred
  • Experience in RightAngle and/or Oracle Financials Cloud preferred
