Job Description
A well-established automotive company is seeking a Controller to report on the financial condition of the organization accurately and regularly. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented with strong financial expertise and a proven ability to manage financial operations. Working collaboratively, the new hire will ensure efficient and accurate financial management through strategic leadership, organizational, and analytical skills while conducting financial analyses to support business decision-making and drive overall profitability.

Type of Position: Direct Hire
Responsibilities:
- Prepare the monthly dealer operating statement within four days according to dealership guidelines and manufacturer's format for dealer to review before submission to each manufacturer on time.
- Manage the accuracy, productivity, and personnel associated with the activities of accounts payable, accounts receivable, CIT, invoicing/billing, customer collections, payroll, and all general entries associated with the business office.
- Ensure that all manufacturer accounts, including warranty claims, rebates, interest protection, and co-op advertising, are current and accurate.
- Interpret the financial statement and the daily operating control (DOC) regularly. Inform dealer of developing trends.
- Participate in the preparation of short- and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.
- Provide department managers with detailed financial and management reports.
- Maintain an effective cash management system that forecasts cash funds and make recommendations for the profitable use of excess cash.
- Direct assessment of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
- Review the general ledger and scheduled accounts. Notes any unusual entries and investigates the findings.
- Review the reconciliation of general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable, and floor plan payable.
- Stay abreast of tax code revisions. Advises dealer regarding any operational adjustments needed to accommodate revisions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining required forms, payroll taxes, deposits, income taxes, VAT, retirement plan records, etc.
- Manage the dealership computer system to maximize utilization.
- Administer a loss review program and maintain loss reserves for contingent liabilities and trade receivables.
- Meet with dealer to evaluate all insurance renewals.
- Purchase property and liability insurance.
- Prepare and process all insurance claims.
- Coordinate annual audit (or review) and physical inventory.
- Continually strive to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the dealership.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required, MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 10 years accounting and financial reporting experience with an automotive institution
- Must have multi-location experience
- Must be motivated, highly organized, and process driven
- High level of energy and conviction to operate in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of dealer management system software preferred
- CPA, preferred
