Job Description

A well-established independent oilfield services company is looking for an Inventory Control Clerk to manage records related to MRP, ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, cycle counting, and shipping materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional organizational skills and a comprehensive knowledge of inventory management practices. Effective communication skills are essential, as the new hire will enhance operational efficiency by ensuring the highest level of accuracy and organizational effectiveness while maintaining compliance with safety standards.

Location: Houston, TX 77092
Type of Position: Temp-to-Hire
Work Hours: 1st Shift - 6am-2:30pm

Responsibilities:
  • Compile and maintain manual or computerized records, to include material inventory, in process production reports and location of materials.
  • Perform daily cycle counts of inventory location to maintain accurate perpetual inventory.
  • Interpret MRP output to schedule the issuance of manufacturing work orders and purchase requisitions.
  • Maintain strong organizational skills with focus on customer service support to the production department.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, working with little supervision & direction. Willing to take ownership of his/her role and decisions and lead the team to achieve goals.
  • Ability to determine and communicate inventory issues as well as recommend solutions.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ensure overall compliance to inventory processes and procedures as well as contractual obligations.
  • Make sure that all the established procedures have been followed and make sure that there is effective control on the flow of the inventories and the accounting of inventories with respect to shipping, receiving, etc.
  • Provide periodic statistical information to management regarding trends as related to inventory levels, root cause analysis, and ideas for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain awareness about the physical slotting locations, capacities, and layouts and make recommendations to improve the efficiency to facilitate more space allocation and consolidate its stocking locations.
  • Compare nomenclature, stock numbers, authorized substitutes, and other listed information with catalogs, manuals, parts lists, bids, bills of materials, and similar references to verify accuracy of requisitions and shipping orders.
  • Inspect and examine the stocked items and reports to the supervisor immediately in case it is damaged.
  • Perform all the inventory data entry functions and is accountable for maintaining the timeliness and accuracy of the inventory statistics for the assigned inventories.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Keep desks and the work area clean and orderly.

Requirements:
  • Forklift Experience
  • 5+ years of inventory experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or nine to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
