Job Description

A fast-growing company in the heavy equipment industry is seeking a Lead Mobile Forklift Mechanic to service and maintain equipment in the field. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, mechanically inclined professional with exceptional diagnostic abilities and extensive experience repairing forklifts. Communicating effectively with customers and internal teams, the new team member will support equipment reliability by performing inspections, diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues, completing repairs, and delivering outstanding customer service while working independently and maintaining the highest safety standards.

Location: Houston, TX 77017
Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Travel to customer locations to diagnose, repair, and maintain forklifts and material handling equipment, including electric, propane, gasoline, and diesel units.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance according to OEM specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Perform advanced forklift diagnostics to identify and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
  • Communicate repair status, recommendations, and timelines with customers.
  • Complete work orders, service reports, and repair documentation using mobile technology.
  • Maintain accurate records of labor, parts usage, and service history.
  • Keep the company service vehicle clean, organized, and fully stocked with tools and parts.
  • Follow all company and customer safety procedures.
  • Respond professionally to emergency service calls and equipment breakdowns.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical or vocational training preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years of forklift mechanic experience; 10+ years of experience strongly preferred
  • Extensive forklift-specific diagnostic experience is required
  • Strong understanding of engines, hydraulics, brakes, electrical systems, and electronic diagnostics on lift trucks
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced field service environment
  • Excellent troubleshooting, time management, and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • OEM certifications (Toyota, Hyster, Yale, Crown, Raymond, etc.)
  • Experience using mobile diagnostic software or CMMS platforms
  • Welding and light fabrication experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
