Job Description

A well-established company in the oil & gas industry is seeking a FP&A Analyst - Commercial Finance to join the Finance team. This is an opportunity for a financially driven professional to partner with Sales, Finance, and Operations to improve revenue performance, profitability, and strategic decision-making. The Commercial Finance Analyst is responsible for financial planning and analysis, customer profitability, pricing analysis, commercial contract review, and revenue reporting while helping strengthen financial controls and supporting key business initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Sales leadership to develop revenue forecasts, financial models, and performance metrics that support strategic business decisions.
  • Analyze sales performance, revenue trends, gross margin, pricing, and customer profitability across products, regions, and business segments.
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate pricing strategies, customer agreements, business initiatives, and investment opportunities.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages highlighting key business trends, forecast variances, and actionable recommendations for leadership.
  • Perform scenario analysis and sensitivity modeling to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term business planning.
  • Provide financial analysis supporting pricing decisions, contract negotiations, and customer profitability initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Accounting to ensure revenue, cost, and gross margin reporting accurately reflects business performance.
  • Develop executive-level presentations and financial insights that help leadership make informed business decisions.
  • Review customer contracts and commercial agreements to understand pricing structures, margin expectations, ownership transfer, and financial implications.
  • Perform recurring reviews of sales transactions to ensure customer agreements are executed accurately and consistently.
  • Analyze revenue and gross margin performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with Sales and Operations to evaluate commercial opportunities and recommend strategies that improve profitability.
  • Support revenue recognition analysis by collaborating with Accounting and Finance to ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Evaluate financial processes and internal controls related to revenue, pricing, and commercial transactions.
  • Recommend process improvements that enhance reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and financial compliance.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing supporting documentation and financial analysis.
  • Support compliance with company policies, GAAP, and internal control requirements.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects focused on improving financial reporting, business processes, and operational performance.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in Commercial Finance, FP&A, Strategic Finance, Corporate Finance, Revenue Analysis, Business Analysis, or a related analytical role.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and profitability analysis experience.
  • Experience analyzing pricing strategies, customer profitability, revenue performance, or commercial business operations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis.
  • Experience working within ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, or similar financial platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into business recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with Sales, Finance, Accounting, and Operations teams.
  • MBA, CPA, CFA, or other advanced financial certification, preferred
  • Experience supporting commercial organizations, pricing strategy, contract analysis, or customer profitability initiatives.
  • Knowledge of revenue recognition, internal controls, SOX, or financial compliance.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Power Query, or other business intelligence tools.
  • Background within manufacturing, industrial, energy, chemical, distribution, engineering, or other commercial business environments.
  • Experience presenting financial analysis and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect financial results with business strategy and influence cross-functional decision-making.
