Job Description
A fast-growing global industrial valve manufacturer is seeking an Outside Sales professional to join the team for their new Water Transmission Valves division. This role involves business development travel across North America and offers the opportunity to be part of a newly formed water valve division from the ground up. The Outside Sales professional is responsible for developing approvals and sales of water transmission valve products across U.S. and Canada markets, with inside sales support provided for all inquiries and quotations.

Responsibilities:
- Develop and grow sales of water transmission, wastewater, and sewage water valve products across North America (U.S. and Canada).
- Promote the company's world class valve manufacturing capabilities and water valve product line to new and existing customers.
- Build and develop relationships with municipal water authorities, engineering firms, distributors, and other key customers.
- Obtain product approvals from municipalities, utilities, and engineering firms for Gate, Globe, Check, and Butterfly valve products manufactured in Cast Iron, Ductile Iron, and Cast Steel in accordance with AWWA and NSF-61 requirements.
- Prospect, qualify, and develop new business opportunities while maintaining and expanding relationships with existing accounts.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with inside sales, engineering, and headquarters to set overall commercial strategy for customers, including product selection, pricing, margins, and market segment.
- Review customer inquiry documentation to determine appropriate product selection, including exceptions or deviations.
- Review and ensure quotation bid packages are technically compliant with project specifications and commercially competitive.
- Respond to customer requests for information and written clarification on quotation and purchase order requirements.
- Maintain sound business relationships through regular customer visits.
- Prepare monthly sales update reports, including customer visit outcomes, status of key purchase orders, and industry trends.
- Prepare quarterly progress updates on account sales.
- Update CRM system with customer and sales information on a regular basis.
- Assist with product presentations, trade show participation, product training, and customer visits.
- Remain current on company and industry changes and developments.
Requirements:
- Extensive outside sales experience in the water transmission, wastewater, or sewage water valve industry required
- Experience selling valves used in water transmission applications, including Gate, Globe, Check, and Butterfly valve types
- Knowledge of AWWA and NSF-61 standards preferred
- Experience with Cast Iron, Ductile Iron, and Cast Steel valve materials preferred
- Proven track record of business development and new account acquisition
- Ability to travel across North America as required
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills
- Experience using CRM systems
