Senior Human Resource Manager

Compensation: $90,000-$110,000/year

Location: Halletsville, TX

Job Purpose: The Senior Human Resource Manager is responsible for providing leadership and support in human resources functional areas.  This role will maintain and enhance the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices. 

Human Resource Manager Job Duties:

  • Implements human resources programs by providing human resources services, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare benefits, training and development, records management, employee / labor relations and completing personnel transactions.  Heavy emphasis on employee retention.
  • Leverage previous experience by working with the business to diagnose, assess, and resolve critical issues or challenges.
  • Provide direction and guidance to managers and supervisors in the resolution of HR or employment-related issues or barriers impacting business performance.
  • Provide leadership and development to plant staff through training and coaching; Conduct training sessions related to supervisor training, cultural principles, safety, performance or other areas.
  • Assists in recruitment effort for all departments such as reviewing department organization and job descriptions issued by department managers.  Manages recruitment agencies, uses appropriate media to reach out to potential candidates.  Administers aptitude tests and extends job offers to potential candidates. 
  • Completes the new hire on-boarding process and responsible for the day to day activities related to payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Participate in routine meetings and attend other meetings as necessary to represent Human Resources either within or outside the organization.
  • Distributes and monitors employee performance evaluations and ensures they are done in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the interpretation and application of Human Resources policies, recommending changes and monitoring compliance.
  • Establishes and maintains open and effective communication with employees; meets with employees on the manufacturing floor and warehouse as needed.
  • Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees; acts as liaison between employee and employee’s manager in conflict resolution.
  • Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions.
  • Manages client expectations by communicating project status and issues; resolving concerns; analyzing time and cost issues; preparing reports.
  • Maintains Human Resources information system records and prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Work with the Health, Safety and Environmental team in support of the administration of Worker’s Compensation and coordination of workplace safety programs; Represents the company in workers compensation, unemployment insurance and other outside claims.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends in order to ensure organization’s compliance by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

 

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Human Resources, Business or Operations
  • SHRM and/or PHR certification
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of direct Human Resources leadership experience in a manufacturing/production environment is required
  • Experience in the food manufacturing industry supporting a high growth, fast paced environment strongly preferred
  • Previous experience with strategic workforce planning
  • Bi-lingual required with the ability to read and write in Spanish/English strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of employment laws
  • Demonstrate solid critical thinking skills and the ability to recognize trends to provide strategy and support of business objectives
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Experience working in a variety of different HR disciplines while managing competing priorities
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact well with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality
