JOB TITLE: Senior Process Engineer 
REPORTS TO: VP Engineering
LOCATION: Houston, TX  
 

A leading next generation energy company is currently seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our team in Houston, Tx.  The ideal candidate is a fully competent and knowledgeable engineer with oil and gas process or chemical plant experience, who typically performs routine assignments independently but under the supervision of a more experienced engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical solutions for the basic and detail of design of process systems based around the Company’s proprietary technology
  • Assist in planning and reviewing of technical work and maintaining project schedules and work plans
  • Perform simulation studies and develop heat & mass balance sheets
  • Develop PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Process and Instrumentation Diagrams) to suit process requirements
  • Calculate and size process equipment (such as pressure vessels, phase separators, etc.)
  • Perform hydraulic calculations and line sizing
  • Select and size control and manual valves to suit process requirements
  • Prepare process datasheets for Equipment & Instrumentation
  • Perform PSV calculations and generate process datasheets
  • Create and develop proposal and inquiry documents, detail design and specify for purposes of quotation, purchase and manufacture
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and reply to bid clarifications
  • Make vendor recommendations
    • Engineering companies
  • Participate in single and inter-discipline checks and reviews
  • Understand common place industry materials and their application
  • Travel required as dictated by project needs
    • Less travel in the beginning
    • More travel as project advances – will depend on projects/plans

Skills / Qualifications

  • Good in Excel and in math
  • BS in Chemical or Process Engineering is required
    • Even better if they have: Masters or PhD in Chemical Engineering is preferred
  • PE (Professional Engineer) license preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in Process Engineering and Design and possesses well developed knowledge of process engineering principles and practices along with understanding of project execution and process involvement
  • Experience with oil and gas process or chemical projects and development of process design packages deliverables such as simulation modeling, equipment datasheets, P&ID development, relief valve calculations, etc. is required
  • Knowledge of process simulation (VMGSim, Hysys, Aspen, Unisim, etc)
  • VMGSim knowledge highly preferred
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD P&ID
  • Served as Process Lead on a project with demonstrated success in delivering quality process deliverables according to project schedule and budget
  • Has knowledge of the process discipline and has general knowledge of other engineering disciplines
  • Has a understanding of process controls and instrumentation and its use
  • Working knowledge of alternative, advanced principles and techniques of process engineering and knowledge of competing and alternative design techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced laws, principles, theorems and mathematics or industry knowledge in the improvement and development of designs
  • Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily
  • Able to perform routine process tasks and deliverables with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule agreed with manager (may require working an adjusted work schedule based on project assigned and work overtime if warranted)
  • Willingness to comply with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures
