Position: New Product Development Engineer

Location: NW Houston, Texas

Salary: $85K to $100K with a 5%-10% Annual Bonus Eligibility

 

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the design and development of new products, including; new design concepts, layouts, calculations, drawings and BOM’s and managing the product through verification, validation and production.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • BSME & 7 yrs. experience or MSME & 5 yrs. experience.
  • At least 5 years in design of control valves and accessories

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the new product design effort through NPD process from concept to product introduction & field validation.
  • Mechanical product design (modeling) & drawings using CREO & Windchill PLM
  • Ensure that products comply with regulatory requirements (ex. NACE, API, UL)
  • Design of products to meet safety requirements of local, federal and industry requirements at a minimum.
  • Conceive, Plan, Develop and coordinate projects as assigned as an individual contributor or as a member of a cross functional team.
  • Act as project team leader on assigned projects and/or provide guidance and support to project team leader.
  • Create and develop engineering project documentation, i.e. bill of materials and drawings, and specifications.
  • Direct and develop prototypes, test plans and validate through analysis and testing as required.
  • Direct and troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve product issues utilizing state of the art tools and methodologies.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient in 3D/CAD Solid Modeling - CREO
  • Product evaluation, testing and reporting skills
  • Solid understanding of engineering mechanics, fluid flow and pneumatics.
  • Statistical Techniques (Ex. Design of Experiments, Product Capability Analysis, Tolerancing and Dimensional Stackups)
  • FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
  • FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
  • CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)
  • Basic Electrical Circuits and Wiring
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to work with minimal direction on project assignments.
  • Effective Oral & Written Communication.  Comfortable giving technical presentations/interfacing with customers.
  • Process controls design – valves, actuators, regulators, level controls, etc.
  • Risk assessment skills and ability to exhibit sound judgment in decisions making
  • Exhibits good creativity and innovation in design work while keeping project goals in mind.
  • Knowledge and adherence to export control regulations.
