Lead Electrical Engineer

Summary:

A global engineering and project management firm, is looking for a strong lead electrical engineer to help with their electrical and I&C projects both domestically and internationally. All Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

Position Type: Direct Hire / Will consider contract if candidate prefers

Position Location: Houston, TX

Position Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 (Depending on Experience) + Bonus

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to perform routine and complex engineering, design, analysis or other technical tasks within the electrical department utilizing current technology, available standards, calculation software, templates and cataloged products. 
  • Oil & Gas projects range from preliminary design studies to major engineering, fabrication, and procurement projects that include installation and commission. 
  • Ability to generate schematics for power distribution systems and check drawings against client and class specifications
  • Read P&ID’s when needed. Develop/review data sheets for electrical equipment
  • Required to review/write specifications as well as read and interpret customer specifications and write technical responses and deviations as asked to do so by the project lead
  • Ability to design or review cable tray design and layouts and cable routing
  • Interact with both internal and external teams, clients, and others as directed by project management.
  • Perform site visits to clients sites as needed for the projects

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering a must, Masters degree a plus
  • 8+ years equivalent experience is required for the role. EPC experience with both Electrical than I&C - majority of Electrical based work. 60% - Electrical, 40% I&C.
  • FPSO / FLNG experience or any vessel experience preferred
  • Hazardous area design experience to ATEX, IEC Ex, API RP 505, API 15 etc.  Individual does not require experience in all but must have some.
  • Marine experience:  Exposure to certifying agencies such as ABS, DNV etc. would be preferred
  • Oil & Gas experience:  Can be in any portion of the process, subsea, upstream, midstream, or downstream.
  • Hands on field experience in commissioning or factory acceptance testing is a big plus
  • Able to read/review single line drawings power distribution systems. Knowledge of lighting design.
  • Experience with Fire and Gas detection and safety systems area plus.
  • Must have strong communication skill both verbal and written, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Travel as needed to client sites for the projects. 10% - 15% of the time.
