Interior Furniture Designer

A leading provider of workspace products and services in Houston is seeking a highly motivated designer to join their Furniture Design Team with a primary focus to support and increase sales of their vendor’s furniture system as well as provide technical expertise to the Architect and Design Community and end users. 

Compensation: $60,000 to $80,000 annually

  • Assist sales efforts by working on and compiling request for proposal responses, design
  • concepts and budgets
  • Ability to foresee potential design or product installation issues
  • Client-oriented leadership skills in a highly collaborative setting
  • Qualified candidates should exhibit strong design, organization and
  • communication skills
  • Assist in all aspects of the design process from furniture design
  • development and concepts through specification, presentation, completion
  • and installation of commercial furniture projects
  • Maintain proficiency on all Teknion furniture products and attending training
  • programs as required. Some travel.


  • A professional degree from a CIDA accredited Interior Design Program
  • 2+years of professional design experience preferred
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel,Outlook) and knowledge of AutoCAD. ProjectMatrix, Adobe (InDesign),Bluebeam preferred
  • Experience in a construction or installation industry a plus
  • Experience in modular furniture or furnishings required
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels as the audience may vary dramatically depending upon the task or requirement
  • Ability to clearly and professionally communicate with team members and clients both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain professional behavior on daily basis, preserving self-confidence, motivation, and self-esteem of others
  • Offer solutions for problems or issues that arise; works collaboratively with others and be a strong team player willing to take on new processes
  • Proactively build effective working relationships with others seeking to understand others, enhance others’ ideas, and place higher priority on team or organizational goals than on own goals taking prompt action to accomplish objectives
  • Multitask between projects as necessary to maintain up-to-date information and keep all parties involved in the loop
  • Work effectively on multiple projects while managing deliverables and communicating work output accordingly
