Industrial Control Panel Design Engineer

Position Type: Direct Hire

Position Location: Houston, TX (West)

Position Salary: $45/HR - $65/HR (Depending on Experience)

Responsibilities:

  • Able to engineer industrial control panels using the provided specifications, P&ID’s, and platform hardware manuals
  • Able to design industrial control panels for hazardous locations
  • Supervise and assist projects within the company
  • Able to size raceway, cable tray, wire way, low voltage, and medium voltage power cable per NFPA 70
  • Perform high level planning of control system design including the development of network architectures and IO lists
  • Evaluate and check the work of IE designers and provides designers with direction on sketches etc.
  • Provides direction and mentorship to designers
  • Complies with company standards
  • Review vendor packages and proposals for consistency and conformance to the project requirements as well as the codes and standards required by the project.
  • Understands the aesthetics of a quality drawing package and ensures quality is upheld

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree a minimum; PE License is a plus.
  • 5+ years of equivalent work experience
  • Strong background experience in the application of NFPA 70, API RP 500, API RP 552
  • Exposure to IEC requirements as they pertain to are classification, symbols, and control system designs.
  • Exposure to other industry codes and standards and understanding when to apply them
  • Must be willing and able to lead a project team, along with multiple projects
  • Ability to multitask in a challenging and dynamic working environment
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with designing control panels to UL508a standards
  • Familiarity with different control system platforms such as Allen Bradley Controllogix, Tricon, Trident, Siemens S7, and Delta V
