Device & Customer Support Engineer


An International manufacturing company is looking for qualified Device support engineers to help perform research and create different algorithms to help support different devices. All Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

Position Location: Houston, TX

Position Type: Direct Hire or Temp to Hire

Position Salary: Base Salary (Depending on Experience) + Profit Sharing 


  • Responsible for all aspects of support of devices with Nonvolatile memories.
  • Analyze any requests to research the feasibility of support and determine all electrical and software requirements for supporting devices.
  • Design adapter boards as needed. Adapters are then used to write algorithms that generate waveforms needed for programming a Non-Volatile device.
  • Responsible for support of such algorithms in case of any issues or questions.
  • Write algorithms to support Nonvolatile memory devices.
  • Update existing algorithms with new specification changes from manufacturers.
  • Design and release Socket Module adapter boards.
  • Evaluate any incoming requests for support of devices.
  • Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedure and criteria using good judgment in completing device support engineering tasks.
  • Work with QA and software team on unique testing requirements.
  • Work with Technical Support on any issues or questions pertaining to Device Support.
  • Troubleshooting and fixing problems found and reported by QA or customers.
  • Maintain good relationships with manufacturer engineers and contacts


  • Must have a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or closely related technical degree
  • Will consider entry level for this role; 3+ years’ equivalent experience preferred.
  • Basic Understanding of Electronics a minimum; Advanced knowledge working with algorithms, microprocessors, and semiconductors preferred.  
  • If experienced:
    • Must have an understanding of C/C++/Assembly languages
    • Familiar with EPROM, Flash, Microcontrollers and PLDs
    • Familiar with signal integrity, ground bounce, power supply noises etc.
  • If entry level:
    • Must have 3.0 GPA or higher and Advanced Digital Classes in school 5000 or 6000 level classes a plus. Must have a strong senior project in an electrical or computer science background
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work within a team
  • Ability to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently or in a team environment
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
