Design Director

Leading provider of contract furniture in the Houston area is looking to add a Design Director to their growing team.  Based in Dallas, the 26-year-old company has provided solutions to customers all over the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as product expert, working closely with design team and upper management as well as customers to create innovative workspace solutions from concept to completion.
  • Responsible for product success by setting, measuring, and achieving goals.
  • Constantly be watching and improving upon KPI’s
  • Negotiate scope-of-work deliverables, and pricing
  • Participate in design meetings and provide continual input to optimize design and minimize futile work
  • Be a communicative leader, able to share product roadmap and vision clearly with team
  • Must have a creative mind when it comes to problem solving, even in the face of multiple inputs
  • Maintain a high standard of performance at all times
  • Understands local codes and ADA requirements, and able to stay within guidelines
  • Provide proactive solutions and/or options to overcome obstacles
  • Motivate designers on the team toward continued growth and leading design solutions
  • Project prioritization of design, assignment, and management to designers
  • Collaborate on new design issues and research projects with teams
  • Manage distributions of workload within the team

Requirements:

  • Must have experience in a furniture dealership
  • Must have 2+ years supervisory experience
  • Graduate of a four-year program with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Technical Based Design
  • 5+ years' AutoCAD work experience preferred
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret construction documents
  • Three years’ experience in related position with technical expertise
  • Intermediate skill level of AutoCAD
  • Familiar with industry standard specification tools and MS Office
  • Ability to clearly and professionally communicate with team members and clients both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain professional behavior on daily basis, preserving self-confidence, motivation, and self-esteem of others
  • Offer solutions for problems or issues that arise; works collaboratively with others and be a strong team player willing to take on new processes
  • Proactively build effective working relationships with others seeking to understand others, enhance others’ ideas, and place higher priority on team or organizational goals than on own goals taking prompt action to accomplish objectives
