Civil / Structural Engineer

Position Location: NE Houston, TX

Position Type: Direct Hire

Position Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 (Depending on Experience)

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare calculations, drawings, and specifications for the design of fall protection systems
  • Ensure that these systems are in compliance with all applicable local, design, and fall protection codes and standards.
  • Make field visits when required to obtain required information to prepare designs.
  • Reviews project specifications for accuracy and consistency with design and fall protection codes.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Coordinate with drafting staff and reviews drawings for compliance with the design.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Works closely with other departments within the Company to identify and resolve problems and suggests alternatives when necessary.
  • Help manage and oversee projects and maintain client/company expectations to the projects. Responsible for over-all structural and civil design of projects.
  • Work in conjunction with sales, project managers, supply chain, quality assurance, and fabrication to ensure that the designs are optimized to provide the best solution available.
  • Deliver a superior service in a fast pace environment that meets or exceeds expectations.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in an ABET accredited engineering degree program.
  • Must be a Professional Engineer or in the process of obtaining PE License; NCEES Record is a plus.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in Civil / Structural Engineering; Preferably in fall protection systems or similarly related background.
  • Must be proficient with the design and analysis of steel structures and concrete foundations, analysis of wood, aluminum, and masonry structures and proficient in the design / detailing of standard and custom connections including bolted and welded connections.
  • Competency in the use of the AISC, AISI, ACI-318 specifications is required  
  • Experience in reading geotechnical reports and designing foundations.
  • Familiarity with AWS D1.1, D1.2, and D1.6 Standards and Specifications.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills in terms of general communications as well as technical ideas, concepts and details.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; Solidworks experience is a plus
  • Qualified in the use of general structural engineering programs.
  • Experience with wood and masonry design is a strong plus    
  • Must be willing to travel a minimum of 25% for projects at client sites.
  • Physical Demands: This employee while in the office will regularly require to sit; use of hands and fingers while at a computer. This employee while in the field will be required to bend, stoop, crawl, climb, kneel on structures and buildings in high places (Must be good with heights) and perform inspection of various areas for fall protection equipment to be installed or changed.
