Bilingual Human Resources Generalist

Compensation: $24/hr

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Human Resources Manager and Senior site management to establish and achieve annual goals for the Human Resources Department.
  • Ensures that all new employee paperwork is reviewed, processed and that all required forms, and related documents are forwarded to Payroll for processing.
  • Generates and processes all personnel action notices needed to activate payroll and/or employee benefit program changes, in a timely manner and generates reports that are requested by management.
  • Utilizes HRIS and other industry-based programs to input personnel, benefits and data to activate and administer employees.
  • Provides support in the interpretation and implementation of Human Resource policies, practices and procedures, and communicates on a regular basis with employees in all work groups to facilitate problem solving and resolve human resource issues, including employee benefits issues.
  • Develops and updates organizational charts, headcount reports, compensation surveys, compensation reports, employee phone & address lists, etc.
  • Identifies opportunities to implement human resource programs and processes that will increase the overall effectiveness of the Company.
  • Provides support for the staffing process ensuring that qualified candidates are identified on a timely basis for both hourly and salaried position openings
  • Participates in college recruiting activities and career fairs at local universities to attract and hire qualified candidates.
  • Tracks and utilizes the most efficient and cost-effective recruitment tools to identify qualified candidates in the workforce, i.e., LinkedIn, Facebook and other social media.
  • Coordinates all pre-employment alcohol and drug screens for potential candidates who are being considered for employment with the Company, including pre-employment physical exams as required.
  • Administers and ensures that the background check, MVR check and E-Verify process has been completed on all new hires and that all correspondence with regard to alcohol and drug test results are confidentially filed in the secure medical files.
  • Coordinates scheduling of new employee orientations.
  • Creates and maintains personnel files on all active and inactive employees placing all necessary and required paperwork in their appropriate electronic folders.
  • Performs onboarding orientations as may be required for new employees providing them with an overview of the company, the company group benefit package and review of applicable HR and company policies and procedures.
  • Processes I-9 employment verification eligibility through Lookout Services. Updates expiring documents, and terminates I-9’s per guidelines.
  • Distributes employee benefit plan information to new employees on a timely basis to inform them of eligibility to participate in the group healthcare plan and distributes benefit program announcements and changes to all employees.
  • Assists employees in answering group healthcare and 401(k) Retirement Plan questions and provides them with brochures and other information to help them with their benefit elections and completing online registration and enrollment.
  • Monitors and tracks FMLA, other leaves of absences, and coordinates needed actions between the employee and the Company.
  • Inputs and maintains updated employee information in the HRIS.
  • Submits all required information on new employees to Payroll and updates employees’ records as changes occur and coordinates with the Payroll Department to ensure that all data is accurate and timely.
  • Works with the Safety Department to provide employee information when injuries occur and for safety training purposes.
  • Ensures that all employee separation information is provided to IT and Payroll departments in a timely manner.
  • Creates custom reports as requested by the Human Resources Manager such as employee lists, address lists, compensation reports, benefit plan participants, etc.
  • Provides supplemental support to management on human resource projects.
  • Develops and updates company organizational charts, headcount reports, position descriptions and compensation surveys.
  • Meets with all new employees and provides a comprehensive HR orientation to all new hires regarding company history and organization, benefits, compensation, policies and procedures, etc.
  • Prepares and submits federal regulatory reports about the organization and manpower, such as EEO-1 Report.
  • Develops presentations and conducts employee training in the areas of workplace diversity, EEO, harassment prevention, supervisory skills training, performance management, etc.
  • Serves as Company representative for community involvement activities and assists in the coordination of employee social activities and functions.
  • Provides regular feedback and acts as a liaison to the Human Resources on employee and business issues that have an impact on the organization.
  • Listens and handles employee concerns and investigates internal complaints.

  • Participates in Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
  • All employees, current and former, must maintain confidentiality by not disclosing to others any confidential, proprietary or trade secret information belonging to the Company.
  • Conducts the necessary management and employee training for government and private sector compliance.
  • Develops and maintains job descriptions for each position within the Company.
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned by immediate supervision.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience is required
  • A degree in Human Resources is preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Have working experience in Staffing, Compensation & Benefit Administration, Policy Design & Administration, Organizational Effectiveness, Diversity and AAP Development, HR Problem Solving and/or Employee Relations is required.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, maintain confidentiality and the ability to effectively relate to employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Be able to multitask several different projects at one time
  • Be an effective communicator (both verbal & written)
  • Be able to interface well with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Be able to travel to field to visit job sites.
